Do longer descriptions cost more credits?
No. Every saved description uses one credit, whether it is a 50-word blurb at level 1 or a 400-word description at level 7.

No. Describer counts one credit per description saved. The Description length level changes how much is written, not what it costs.
So pick the length that fits your products best. Skipped products and failed saves use no credits at any length.
