Can Describer write for draft products?
Yes. Turn off Only process published products in the task. With it on, which is the default, drafts and archived products are skipped.

Yes. Only process published products is on by default and skips any product that is not active, including drafts.
Turn it off to include drafts. Only process active products skips archived products only, so keep it on unless you also want archived items described.
